Jeffrey Lombardo, visiting assistant professor of biology, recently presented an invited talk at the joint meeting of the Entomological Society of America, the Entomological Society of British Columbia, and the Entomological Society of Canada, in Vancouver, Canada. The talked focused on research that was recently published in the journal Oecologia, and was featured in a number of national and international news outlets.

At the International Leadership Association meeting in Palm Beach, Florida in October, Professor of Psychology Libby Williams presented with colleagues from James Madison University, George Washington University, and Deakin University Australia on their research "Authentic and Sustainable Leadership: An International Qualitative Study of Leaders."

Professor of Biology and Steven Muller Distinguished Professor of the Sciences Jordan Price’s research, previously published in the Royal Society Journal “Proceedings B,” is featured on page 22 of the print edition of National Geographic’s December edition.

On Nov. 15-18, 2018, during the 59^th annual meeting of the Psychonomic Society, which took place in New Orleans, Louisiana, assistant professors of psychology James Mantell and Nathan Foster presented research that had been conducted with the help of St.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Zeta Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa, the nation’s first academic honor society, awarded book prizes to five local high school scholars on November 14.

The St. Mary’s College of Maryland chamber singers with orchestra under the direction of Larry Vote, professor of music, will perform Handel’s “Messiah” on Saturday, Dec. 8 at 3 p.m. The concert will be held in the Auerbach Auditorium of St. Mary’s Hall, 47458 Trinity Church Road.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland Visiting Professor of Biology Seabird McKeon has released the first episodes of “The Naturalist Podcast” (www.naturalistpodcast.com) from the new Maryland location. Covering all aspects of local and distant natural history, the podcast is a conversational adventure in what is going on outside of your front door. Hosted by evolutionary ecologist McKeon, and professional nature guide Lev Frid, this episode features fall adventures with squirrels, islands, and continents.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland was well represented and received at the second annual meeting of the Council on Undergraduate Research Transformations Project (CUR-T), funded by the National Science Foundation. The St.

Seabird McKeon, a visiting faculty member with St. Mary's College department of biology, has been named the natural history special initiatives coordinator for the Ecological Society of America. In this national role, McKeon will be championing the role of natural history clubs and organizations on college campuses, and launching the National Biodiversity Championships in the summer of 2019.  An expert on global biodiversity and evolutionary ecology, McKeon currently teaches Coastal Ecology for St. Mary's College students.
