Assistant Professor Freedman Published in The Journal of Social Psychology

Assistant Professor of Psychology Gili Freedman was recently published in The Journal of Social Psychology. The article, titled “Engaging in Social Rejection May be Riskier for Women,” looks at whether women have more to fear than men when thinking how they will be perceived if they socially reject others.  Previous research has shown that women are perceived negatively for behaving in counter-stereotypical ways; research on backlash has focused on business settings. Freedman’s research applies backlash theory to examine how women are perceived for engaging in social rejection.
