St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the National Public Honors College, is ranked as the fifth best public liberal arts college in the nation for the second year in a row in U.S. News & World Report’s “2021 Best Colleges,” released Monday, Sept. 14.

Professor Charles Adler Unearths Science Behind Book, Show and Movie Favorites

St. Mary’s College of Maryland Professor of Physics Charles L. Adler has released a new video lecture series for The Great Courses, titled “How Science Shapes Science Fiction.” The 24-lecture course looks at dozens of books, movies, and television shows to unearth the science behind the fiction.

David Froom's Solo Flute Music in Newly Published Anthology

The publisher American Composers Alliance has released a new anthology, "Flute Works by American Composers, 12 pieces for flute alone." Included in this collection are two works by Professor of Music David Froom: "To Dance to the Whistling Wind" and "Ribbons." These two works, written in 1993 and 2016, have been widely performed. Professor of English Jeffrey Coleman reads three original poems relating to the Black Lives Matter movement and discusses poems from his edited anthology, "Words of Protest, Words of Freedom: Poetry of the American Civil Rights Movement and Era," during a twenty-six minute audio interview for the Poet and the Poem Series, sponsored  by the Library of Congress. The interview was conducted by Grace Cavalieri, Poet Laureate of Maryland.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland has been ranked among the “Best Colleges for Your Money” by Money. According to Money, “Founded in 1840, St. Mary's College of Maryland is the state's public honors college. But with a liberal arts focus, a low student-faculty ratio, and a high graduation rate, it could easily be mistaken for a selective private school.”
