David Froom's Music in Kobe, Japan
Professor of Music David Froom's composition, "Arirang Variations" for alto saxophone, bassoon, and piano, was performed at a concert in December in Kobe, Japan by members of the Yahyan Woodwind Quintet. This composition, written on commission from the Barlow Foundation in 2005, has been played regularly since the premiere at the University of Iowa, with a dozen performances by nine different performing groups in a variety of venues in Texas, Colorado, Arizona, and New York.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland Professor of Biology Jeffrey Byrd recently published a paper on the “Guidelines for Biosafety in Teaching Laboratories Version 2.0: A Revised and Updated Manual for 2019” in the Journal of Microbiology & Biology Education, along with colleagues Elizabeth Emmer of Salisbury University, Robert Maxwell of Georgia State University, and Heather Townsend of Rhode Island Community College.
