St. Mary’s College of Maryland was recently recognized by Campus Labs—a leading company that works with institutions to transform higher education through data and analytics—as an All Star Award winner in its annual awards program.

Mary Grube, associate director of budgets, earned the Rising Star Award from the Eastern Regional Association of Physical Plant Administrators (ERAPPA) during its annual conference in October. Grube also was elected vice president of professional development for that association. In November, she was elected treasurer of the Maryland/D.C.

On Friday, December 7, President Tuajuanda C. Jordan received the 2018 Education Excellence Award by the Southern Maryland Minority Chamber of Commerce during the Future is Bright awards gala.

Assistant Professor of Psychology Gili Freedman was recently published in The Journal of Social Psychology.

What is sharing our immediate environment?  This simple question has led Coastal Ecology students working with Seabird McKeon, visiting professor of biology, to document more than 750 species of animals, plants, and fungus on campus and in the surrounding area in the fall semester. 

According to McKeon, “Our ability to understand the ecology of an area starts with understanding what species are here. And the only way to do that is to go outside and look- but I didn’t expect my students to find more than 700 species!” 

On November 29, 2018 in Cole Cinema, four student teams presented their business models to a panel of business expert judges (Peg Duchesne ’77, Bill Fry, Gary Jobson, David Lewis, Owen Lewis) in the 7^th Annual Hawk Nest Competition: the endpoint in the semester-long class on entrepreneurship taught by Professor of Sociology Elizabeth Osborn.

St. Mary's College of Maryland has been recognized by The Student Loan Report for creating an environment in which graduates can leave campus with a limited amount of student loan debt. Specifically, St. Mary's College ranked #1 when it came to lowest student debt figures in the state of Maryland.

Celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the 15^th Annual Southern Maryland Martin Luther King, Jr. Prayer Breakfast on Monday, Jan. 21, at St. Mary’s College of Maryland. The theme of the day is “All Life is Interconnected.” The breakfast will begin at 6:30 a.m. and costs $10 payable at the door. The program will begin at 8 a.m.
