St. Mary’s College of Maryland has been named a Best College for 2018-19 by Money magazine. Money analyzed graduation rates, tuition charges, family borrowing, and alumni earnings (plus 22 other data points) to find the country’s top values.
On September 15 and 16, the District New Music Coalition (https://www.districtnewmusiccoalition.com/) is sponsoring a weekend of events at Georgetown University, called New Music DC (https://www.districtnewmusiccoalition.com/new-music-dc/). They have invited David Froom, professor of music, onto their panel on the subject of music commissioning.
The personal papers of John Hanson Briscoe (1934-2014), former speaker of the Maryland House of Delegates and longtime St. Mary’s County lawyer and judge, will be preserved at St. Mary’s College of Maryland Archives.
For the third consecutive year, LendEDU has completed an annual Student Loan Debt by School by State Report, a comprehensive analysis of student loan debt statistics for over 1,000 colleges and universities throughout the United States.
For the past thirteen years, Washington Monthly College Guide has ranked colleges “not based on what colleges do for themselves, but on what they do for their country.” In the rankings released today, St. Mary’s College of Maryland is ranked 28 among the top 30 Liberal Arts Colleges in the United States.

First-time and transfer students and their families were welcomed by President Tuajuanda C. Jordan, faculty and staff, on the Campus’ Townhouse Green during the 2018 Convocation ceremony. With more than 500 students, it’s the largest number of first-year and transfer students choosing the College since 2011 and an increase of 17 percent when compared to fall 2017.
Since Todd Eberly, associate professor of political science and public policy at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, took the helm of the College’s Center for the Study of Democracy on August 1, he has moved forward with reorganizing the Center and initiating programing.
St. Mary’s College student Amanda Siskey ’19, participated in a 10-week internship at University of Maryland, Baltimore County’s Summer Research Program in Baltimore at the Interface between Science and Art (SCIART).
