St. Mary’s College Alumna Lynsey Hayden ’08 MAT ’09 has been recognized by the Maryland Council of Teachers of Mathematics with the Outstanding Mathematics Educator Award in the Elementary Teacher category. The award is given to one mathematics teacher in each category – Beginning Teacher, Elementary Teacher, Middle School Teacher, High School Teacher, and Teacher Leader - across the state who exemplify excellence in mathematics education by implementing research-informed practices in their daily work. Awardees will be honored on Oct. 16 during the MCTM Annual Meeting & Awards Banquet.

According to Hayden, “The knowledge, encouragement, and confidence I received during the MAT program have been major contributors in my success as a teacher. Ten years later and I still can’t speak highly enough about my experience at St. Mary’s College!”

Hayden teaches at Dynard Elementary School in Chaptico, Maryland.
