Associate Professor of Mathematics Emek Köse was recently appointed chair of the student chapters committee of the Association of Women in Mathematics (AWM.) Her two-year term began earlier this month. The AWM is a leading society for women in the mathematical sciences and is one of the societies comprising the Conference Board of the Mathematical Sciences.
Sue Johnson, professor of art, is one of 10 artists who have been awarded a VMFA Visual Arts Fellowship in the professional category for 2020-21. This is an $8,000 award to be used by the artist to support their creative practice, and also includes opportunities for fellowship recipients to exhibit their work at the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts and other museum sites.
Liza Gijanto, associate professor of anthropology, recently published an article in The International Journal of Historical Archaeology.

The Attinhgam Trust, dedicated to fostering knowledge about the arts and cultural heritage in Britain, offers residential study courses on all aspects of British decorative arts and architecture.
Professor of English Ben Click will be joining writer, comedian, actor John Hodgman during "Mark My Words" at the Mark Twain House & Museum in Hartford, Connecticut, in April. Click is the editor of The Mark Twain Annual, a position he will hold for four years.
