St. Mary’s College is proud to announce that alumna Carly Harvey ’07 will serve as mistress of ceremonies for the Mulberry Music Festival: The Blues, on Friday, June 18 beginning at 6 p.m.

The Southern Maryland Folklife Center will present the first annual Southern Maryland Folklife Summer Workshops at St. Mary’s College of Maryland this June 23-25, 2021.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland presents the Mulberry Music Festival: The Blues, featuring the Josh Riley Band, the Kelly Bell Band, and headlined by The Nighthawks, on Friday, June 18, beginning at 6 p.m. on the College’s Townhouse Green. The event is free of charge and open to the public. It will also be simultaneously livestreamed on the College’s website at www.smcm.edu/mulberry.

Patricia Santos-Ciminera, visiting assistant professor of biology, has recently presented at the Helminthological Society of Washington on “Parasite abundance and diversity in river otters (Lontra canadensis) within tributaries of the Chesapeake Bay.” The research was executed along with two SMCM students, Oumoul Ba and Joseph Ponticos.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Office of Institutional Advancement, led by Vice President Carolyn Curry, has won two Gold awards in the 36th Annual Educational Advertising Awards, with one award for the Dedication of the Commemorative to Enslaved Peoples of Southern Maryland also selected as a Best of Show.

Physics Professor Emeritus Katsunori Mita published a paper in the American Journal of Physics titled "Schrödinger's Equation as a Diffusion Equation."

St. Mary’s College of Maryland is one of the nation’s “Best Value Colleges,” according to The Princeton Review. The education services company profiles and recommends St. Mary’s College as one of the 200 institutions selected for its 2021 listing. More than 650 colleges and universities were evaluated for the list, and recommended based on 40 data points covering academics, affordability, and career preparation.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the National Public Honors Colleges, graduated 346 students with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees on Saturday, May 8, with a virtual Commencement ceremony. Simultaneously, three Grad Walks, at 9 a.m., 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., took place at the Jamie L. Roberts Stadium for the class of 2021 and participants of the class of 2020.

On Friday, May 7, the St. Mary’s College of Maryland Board of Trustees approved the graduates of the St.

Sarah Latchney, assistant professor of biology and neuroscience, has recently been published in Developmental Neurobiology titled, “Persistent organic pollutants at the synapse: Shared phenotypes and converging mechanisms of developmental neurotoxicity.”
