Christine Wooley, associate dean of curriculum and associate professor of English at St. Mary’s College of Maryland, was recently appointed to the Executive Committee of the Association of Departments of English (ADE). The ADE supports academic departments focused on studying literature, writing, and culture by helping its members successfully lead and manage their programs.

Shields Elementary teacher Brennan Clarke was named the Cape Region’s 2020 District Teacher of the Year. Clarke will compete for state honors in October. Shields Elementary is located in Lewes, Delaware.
Cindy Broyles ’79 will not seek re-election from St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Board of Trustees following the 2019 academic year. The Board of Trustees voted her Board of Trustee Emerita because of her 12 years of significant and impactful service to the College. Broyles was appointed in 2007. Prior, she served on the Alumni Council from 2004-2006.
Ann L. McDaniel will not seek re-election from St. Mary’s College of Maryland’s Board of Trustees following the 2019 academic year.
The Board of Trustees elected a new slate of officers at its May 10 meeting: Arthur “Lex” Birney Jr. as chair, Susan Dyer as vice-chair, John Wobensmith ’93 as treasurer, and Lawrence Leak ’76 as secretary.
St. Mary’s College of Maryland, the National Public Honors Colleges, graduated 403 students with Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Science, and Master of Arts in Teaching degrees on Saturday, May 11, outdoors on the campus’ Townhouse Green.
