St. Mary’s College Board Sets Tuition and Fees, Moves Forward with Performing Arts, Business Administration Majors
Professor of Anthropology Julia King took part in the pilot episode of “Tribal Truths,” a new podcast series from RadioIQ that aims to debunk myths and legends with facts, teaching about tribal cultures and current issues.
The annual Reeves Lecture with Jeffrey Hammond, professor of English and George B. and Willma Reeves Distinguished Professor in the Liberal Arts, will take place on Wednesday, Feb. 16 at 8:00 p.m. in Daugherty-Palmer Commons on the St. Mary’s College of Maryland campus. The event is free of charge and open to the public.
Professor of Art Carrie Patterson organized a group exhibition running from January 4 – 29, 2022 at The Painting Center in the West Chelsea section of Manhattan in New York City. The exhibition, “The Shaping of America,” features the work of 10 female artists: Pam Cardwell, Janis Goodman, Cecily Kahn, Ying Li, Kayla Mohammadi, Deirdre Murphy, Carrie Patterson, Jennifer Printz, Rebecca Rutstein and Kendra Wadsworth. The exhibition is funded in part by a faculty development grant from St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Professor of Biochemistry Pamela Mertz was recently appointed to the steering committee for BioMolViz, an NSF-funded project (RCN-UBE #1920270) that has been developing resources to improve the pedagogy of biomolecular visualization. Goals of the project include promoting awareness about biomolecular visual literacy and providing all interested educators with learning goals, objectives, and assessment tools to target and evaluate visualization in their classroom. Jordan participated in the Leadership Southern Maryland (LSM) Class of 2022’s fourth of nine educational sessions for the LSM Executive Program held at St. Charles High School in Waldorf, Maryland. President Jordan participated in a panel discussion on the long-haul implications of COVID-19 on education. Participants also included the superintendents from Calvert, Charles, and St.

President Tuajuanda C. Jordan has published an article titled, “Can We Be Better Allies and Advocates? A Roadmap for Institutions to Challenge Systemic Racism” in the most recent issue of the Social Innovations Journal (SIJ).
The second week of December will be a busy one for lovers of piano music in the St. Mary's College of Maryland community, with three free concerts. The music department will present students of Brian Ganz in their end of the semester recital of solo piano music on Tuesday, December 7 at 8 p.m. The recital will feature music of Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Liszt and others.
