Professor Julia King Receives National Park Service Grant

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is proud to announce that Julia King, professor of anthropology, was recently awarded a two-year grant through the American Battlefield Protection Program of the National Park Service.  The American Battlefield Protection Program awarded 1.1 million dollars to 14 projects charged with preserving and protecting historic battles fought on American soil.

Dear Parents & Families,

The pace of events continues as we head into the home stretch of the fall semester.  We hope you will be able to join us for The Sacred Journey: The Beloved Community on November 4, and that you will encourage your student to be a part of this emerging St. Mary’s College tradition.  There are also a variety of performances coming up, particularly in the Nancy R. & Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center, which will soon have its own web page.

President Jordan Named to Maryland Humanities Board

St. Mary’s College of Maryland President Tuajuanda C. Jordan was recently named to the Maryland Humanities board, representing St. Mary’s County.  She is among seven new members announced by the organization earlier this month. 

Maryland Humanities is a statewide nonprofit organization that creates and supports educational experiences in the humanities that inspire all Marylanders to embrace lifelong learning, exchange ideas openly, and enrich their communities.

St. Mary’s College of Maryland Board of Trustees Reviews Progress on Strategic Planning and Other Initiatives

The St. Mary’s College Board of Trustees met on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 14 and 15, 2022, receiving reports on the progress of strategic planning, academics, enrollment and retention, and other College activities.  The board also approved a number of items, including a Facilities Renewal Policy and board meeting schedule for 2022-2025.

Professor Arnett Delivers Keynote Address to Delaware Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages

Professor & Chair of Educational Studies Katy Arnett was the keynote speaker for the fall conference of the Delaware Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (DECTFL) on Friday, Oct. 14, 2022 in Newark, Delaware. Her keynote was entitled: "From Deficit to Barriers to Opportunities: Transforming What it Means to be an Inclusive Language Educator."
