On Wednesday, Nov. 16, Professor of History Christine Adams gave an invited talk for Opera Lafayette's Salon Series, titled "Born to Fill this Position: Madame de Pompadour and the Tradition of the French Royal Mistress." Adams will give an invited lecture on Madame de Pompadour on Dec. 2 at the Kennedy Center to introduce the chamber music program, "In the Salons of Versailles."

The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is proud to announce that Dereck Rovaris, Vice President for Equity and Strategic Initiatives, was recently awarded a one-year grant through the Maryland Higher Education Commission’s Hunger-Free Campus Grant Program. This program was established to help support Maryland higher education entities with their efforts to address student hunger, leverage programs to provide sustainable options for basic food necessities, and to develop awareness programs that recognize, correct, and prevent food insecurity.  St.

Professor Dowla to Give Invited Talk on Green Microfinance at London School of Economics

Asif Dowla, Professor of Economics and Landers Endowed Chair in the Liberal Arts, will participate in a panel discussion on Green Microfinance at the London School of Economics (LSE) on November 9. The event is organized by the Financial Inclusion Society of the LSE Student Union. Together with Manoj Yadav, a senior advisor at the German Agency for International Cooperation, Professor Dowla will discuss how inclusive green finance can help prevent and mitigate the impact of climate change.
