It has been an eventful summer at SMCM, starting with the May Board of Trustees meeting and Commencement for the Class of 2024 and continuing through June and July. Now that we’re nearing the approach of another school year, we thought we would catch you up on all the news you may have missed before providing some important reminders and tips for the fall.
President Jordan Announces Retirement in 2025
Associate Professor of Photography Tristan Cai opened a solo exhibition, "Imagined Spectres," at the Ionion Center for the Arts and Culture, Kefalonia, Greece. The exhibition showcases the imagined landscapes of primordial earth and the much-hyped sightings of pink snow in alpine environments. Cai presents these wondrous phenomena with large-scale photographs as well as an immersive video installation of the microscopic world of red algae cells obtained from a single drop of melted snow.
Associate Professor of French George MacLeod and his former student Isaac Ekobo have published a co-authored article in the peer-reviewed journal French Cultural Studies. The article is the first academic study of the cult French sitcom "H," and one of the first publications to analyze race-based humor in French television.
