On Wednesday, Sept. 25, beginning at 4:45 p.m. in Goodpaster Hall, room 195, Angela Johnson, professor of educational studies, will present “‘I Can’t Really Think of Anything I Don’t Like:’ Locating and Learning from Universities Where Women of Color are Thriving in Physics.” The event is free of charge and open to the public.

Professor Andrew Cognard-Black Published in the Journal of the National Collegiate Honors Council

Andrew Cognard-Black, professor of sociology, is the lead author of an article in the most recent issue of the Journal of the National Collegiate Honors Council. Using data on more than 100,000 university students at 19 major research universities, the article is the first large-scale national study of honors students across the country.

Danielle Spaulding '20 Awarded Research Grant from Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid Research Program

St. Mary’s College of Maryland student Danielle Spaulding ’20 was awarded a research grant from the Sigma Xi Grants-in-Aid of Research Program for her research titled “Can Glyphosate and Polyethoxylated Tallowamine Inhibit Cytochrome P450 Enzymes?” Spaulding, who is a double major in biology and chemistry, is pursuing this research question for her St.

Alumnus Durryle Brooks ’06 Sworn in to the Baltimore City School Board

On Monday, August 19, St. Mary’s College alumnus Durryle Brooks ’06 was sworn in to the Baltimore City School Board. Brooks is a strong local educator and advocate for racial equity and LGBTQ rights, with strong ties to the faith-based community and deep roots in Baltimore.

St. Mary’s College Ranked 30 Among Top Liberal Arts Colleges in 2019 Washington Monthly College Rankings

For the past fourteen years, Washington Monthly College Guide has ranked colleges “based on what they do for the country.” In the rankings released yesterday, St. Mary’s College of Maryland is ranked 30 among the top Liberal Arts Colleges in the United States. Only one public liberal arts college ranks higher on the list.
