The St. Mary's College of Maryland Library does not charge overdue fines on most of our own items. If any item - regardless of whether or not it is subject to overdue fines - is more than 45 days overdue (less for some types of materials), it is considered 'lost' and a replacement fee is billed to the patron. The amount varies depending on the type of material, but may start at $100.00. This replacement fee is rescinded if and when the item is returned or replaced. Replacement of the item must occur within one year of billing. Our fines policies apply to all St. Mary's College of Maryland library users, including USMAI borrowers and local patrons.
