52nd Annual Governor's Cup Yacht Race to Take Place August 1-2

The Governor’s Cup Yacht Race, the oldest premier overnight race on the Chesapeake Bay, will take place August 1-2, 2025. With a 68.6-nautical-mile main race course from Annapolis, three other race routes are available to area sailors, all finishing at St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM). The entire community is welcome to join in the fun, as a day full of activities are planned on the College’s waterfront on Saturday, August 2, featuring food, music and fun for the entire family.

Recent Graduates Awarded Teaching Fulbrights

Two St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) alumni, Cooper Clendenin ’24 and Eleanor “Ellie” Walter ’24, received Fulbright English Teaching Assistant (ETA) awards in Spain for the 2025-2026 year from the U.S Department of State.

Professor of English Jennifer Cognard-Black, Ph.D., the inaugural director of national fellowships and awards, said this is the second consecutive year St. Mary’s College has had at least one SMCM graduate receive a teaching Fulbright, as Surisitee Mortiram '23 was awarded one to Colombia last year.

Baltimore Symphony Returns to St. Mary’s College of Maryland August 1

St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) is proud to welcome the return of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra (BSO), under the baton of Nicholas Hersh, to the Nancy R. & Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center on Friday, August 1 at 7 p.m. The concert is open to the public, with tickets available under a “Pay-What-You-Wish” arrangement.
