The St. Mary's College of Maryland Ethics Bowl team competed in the national APPE Intercollegiate Ethics Bowl, held March 7-8 in St. Louis, Missouri, finishing as a quarter finalist with teams from Harvard University, Macalester College and Utah Valley University. The winning team was from William & Mary, after besting Seattle University in the final match. The national competition is held in conjunction with the annual international conference of the Association for Practical and Professional Ethics (APPE). APPE is an international non-profit membership organization founded in 1991 dedicated to advancing scholarship, education, and practice in practical and professional ethics.

The funnel of 172 schools that began in the fall's various regional Ethics Bowl competitions was whittled down to 36 teams for the national competition. This means that SMCM finished ahead of 164 schools, and that only 4 schools finished ahead of SMCM. This was the fifth time in thirteen years that St. Mary's College has qualified for the national competition.
