Alex Stornelli (Physics '25) recently gave a contributed talk at the American Physical Society Mid-Atlantic Section (APS-MAS) Meeting 2024. This talk was based on his SMP research, for which Alex is working on modeling stars within the theory of general relativity. His focus is on generalizing well-known models with polytropic equation of state and analyzing their physical acceptability. His initial investigations resulted in a reasonable model for neutron stars, which he presented at the meeting. Currently, Alex is working on a follow-up of these results.

Alex is a senior, majoring in physics and minoring in mathematics. The APS-MAS meeting is an annual meeting that takes place every fall. This year, it was hosted by Temple University, Philadelphia from Nov. 15-17, 2024.
