Audience
November 17 through November 23 is National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week. So what do we have planned here on campus?
Food Drive
Throughout the week, we'll be collecting food donations to support both our on-campus food pantry, Solomon's Shoppe, and a community food pantry at Church of the Ascension in Lexington Park. Donations may be dropped off Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm at the Office of Community Outreach & Engagement in DPC or the Counseling Center in Margaret Brent Hall. We will also be accepting donations at the Thanksgiving 5K at Historic St. Mary's City on Saturday.
Film Screening
On Tuesday evening at 6:30, we'll be showing the documentary "A Place at the Table" in Cole Cinema. Join us for the film and a discussion to follow. Pizza and drinks provided!
Service Project
On Thursday afternoon at 4:00 in DPC, we will be preparing bagged lunches for participants in the St. Mary's County WARM program, which provides those in need with a safe place to sleep during the colder months of the year.
Please plan to participate in at least one of these events. Let's raise awareness and help wipe out hunger on our campus and in our community!
Funding for these events is provided by a Maryland Higher Education Commission Hunger-Free Campus Grant.
