Dear Parents & Families,
Spring has sprung! This newsletter presents an opportunity for you to discuss, possibly in person, some upcoming opportunities for your Seahawk. We’ll detail some important upcoming deadlines as well as opportunities for summer or next year.
Commencement
The Class of 2024 will graduate on Saturday, May 11. The Commencement web page is live with information on the ceremony, rehearsal, ordering caps and gowns and much more. Note that if students order their caps and gowns before the end of March, they can save some money!
Study Abroad - Deadline March 15
If your student was considering study abroad opportunities for Fall 2024, it is not too late to apply - but the deadline is almost here! Visit the Office of International Education’s website for details.
Summer Internships
If your student is interested in internship opportunities as a form of summer employment, the Center for Career and Professional Development can help! Opportunities are posted frequently on The Current as well as on Handshake - sort of a LinkedIn for early career opportunities.
Summer & Fall Classes
Registration for summer classes is open now - your students can register for summer classes via their online portal through March 27. After March 27, registration begins for Fall 2024 semester classes.
Middle States Reaffirmation of Accreditation
The self-study process continues. When students return from Spring Break, they will have a number of in-person opportunities to provide their input on the College’s four institutional priorities. Learn more about the self-study process on the Middle States website.
The Rising Tide Strategic Plan
Check out the progress the College has made on our transformational strategic plan pillars on the strategic plan website. A number of milestones have been reached - which you can also follow through our newsroom.
What to Do If You Don’t Have a Major
Office of Student Success Services (OS3)
Some students come to college because it is a part of their plan to be in a specific career. Others come to college to have new experiences that will lead them to a career they will like and be good at. Both options are common ways to start college. Many students who haven’t chosen a career yet come to college without declaring a major. The Registrar's Office will list their major as “undeclared”. Click here for information on what a student can do before declaring a major and why declaring a major is useful.
