As part of this year's Constitution Day festivities and to commemorate the 100-year anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment, the Center for the Study of Democracy is pleased to host Elaine Weiss to deliver the 2020 William O.E. Sterling Constitution Day Lecture. Weiss will deliver a virtual public lecture on Tuesday, September 15th, from 12-1:30 pm. The event will be open to students, staff, faculty, and members of the St. Mary's College community.
Elaine Weiss is a journalist and author whose work has appeared in The Atlantic, Harper’s, The New York Times, and The Christian Science Monitor , as well as in reports and documentaries for National Public Radio and Voice of America. A MacDowell Colony Fellow and Pushcart Prize Editor’s Choice honoree, she is the author of the highly acclaimed narrative nonfiction book, "The Woman's Hour: The Great Fight to Win the Vote" (Viking 2018), hailed as a "riveting, nail-biting political thriller" with powerful parallels to today's political environment. She lives in Baltimore.
