Pam Mertz, professor of biochemistry, helped design and wrote chapters for "Seeing the Invisible: Learning to Teach with Biomolecular Visualization," an open educational resource.  The book was authored by over seventeen members of the BioMolViz community and edited by Roderico Acevedo and Kristen Procko. It provides step-by-step instructions on how to use four molecular modeling software programs: ChimeraX, iCn3D, Mol*, and PyMOL, from getting started to advanced features. Designed for instructors, the book also includes chapters on pedagogical approaches to teaching biomolecular visualization and chapters on how to use structural information in the Protein Data Bank.  The work was funded by NSF RCN-UBE #1920270https://utexas.pressbooks.pub/molviz-education/
