
President Tuajuanda C. Jordan, with Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty Katie Gantz, attended the American Association of Colleges & Universities (AAC&U) National Conference in Washington, D.C. Jan. 23-24.
During the conference, Gantz co-presented on the panel “Cultivating Democratic Citizens: Advancing Democracy through the Public Liberal Arts." She also gave a talk on St. Mary’s College of Maryland's "Media Literacy, Civic Engagement and Democracy Project," the result of a campus collaboration between the Center for the Study of Democracy (CSD) and the Hilda C. Landers Library and the project's steering committee.
She reported on the efforts of CSD Director Antonio Ugues, Jr.; Library Director Amanda VerMeulen; library faculty Kat Ryner, Pamela Mann and Stephanie Reyes; and teaching faculty Associate Professors Argelia Gonzalez Hurtado and Jessye McDowell on this multi-year initiative. Also in attendance at the conference were Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs Katy Arnett; and Associate Deans Randy Larsen, Kelly Neiles and Sahar Shafqat.
