Assistant Professor of Neurobiology Sarah Latchney was recently interviewed by the Allen Institute as one of three educators highlighted because they are using the institute's open access datasets to support remote learning in the neurology and biology classrooms. She is using images and lesson plans stored and developed by the institute to support Principles of Biology 1 this fall. She is concerned about increasing the accessibility gap already present to minority and other underrepresented groups for STEM fields. Latchney says, "...we're trying our best to retain and engage" our students. "That's why I am excited about these open-access resources...they help to minimize some barriers."
