Cecile Walton, class of 2019, spent her summer as a mount-making intern at the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art, Washington, D.C. Supporting conservation efforts of a collection of Senegalese gold jewelry and antiquities, she was tasked with preparing mounts and utilizing techniques to protect the artifacts for display. Under the supervision of Keith Conway, she completed mounts for over 35 objects. The collection will premiere at the museum mid-October.
