Casey Published in Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History

Emily Casey, assistant professor of art history, had an essay published this week on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Heilbrunn Timeline of Art History. The timeline is an invaluable public resource for the study of the history of art, from one of the most prestigious art museums in the country. Titled, “Visual Culture of the Atlantic World,” the essay examines how the interactions among peoples and nations of Europe, West Africa, and North and South America from the 15th to the early 19th century, helped create global visual and material culture such as portraits, silver tea services and mahogany tables made from colonial materials to serve elite tastes.
