"Mis- and Disinformation in Asian Diasporic Communities: Politics, Power, and History" lecture by Dr. Rachel Kuo

The Media Literacy, Civic Engagement, and Democracy Project, a partnership of the College's Center for the Study of Democracy and Hilda C. Landers Library, is pleased to welcome Dr. Rachel Kuo to St. Mary's College of Maryland for a lecture entitled "Mis- and Disinformation in Asian Diasporic Communities: Politics, Power, and History."
Dr. Rachel Kuo speaks on the ways histories surrounding race, migration, and empire undergird mis- and disinformation. She writes, teaches, and researches race, social movements, and digital technology. She is currently an Assistant Professor of Media and Cinema Studies at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and Fellow at the Center for Democracy and Technology. She is a founding member and current affiliate of the Center for Critical Race and Digital Studies and also a co-founder of the Asian American Feminist Collective.
