Intended Audience
Nov. 21, 2024, is the day we celebrate the Great American Smokeout, encouraging people to quit smoking. Blow bubbles not smoke. You don't have to stop smoking in ONE day. Start with Day One.
The Relay for Life Club and Peer Health Educators will be tabling for GASO at the Campus Center on Nov. 21 during lunchtime (11 a.m.-1 p.m.). FREE bubbles will be passed out while supplies last. Luminara bags to be lit in honor/memory/or support of a loved one at our fun, family-friendly, and intergenerational Relay For Life of St. Mary’s County (March 1, 2025 @ 4-8 p.m.) will be available for sale - $5 each or $10 for 3 bags.
Please see/share the following GASO resources provided by the American Cancer Society:
- Empowered to Quit
- Health Benefits of Quitting Smoking
- Tobacco and Cancer Fact Sheet for Patients and Cargivers
- Tobacco: What is it Costing You?
- E-cigarettes and Vaping
In general, it's a good time to also understand that lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States. That’s why it’s so important to understand your risk (disparities associated) and for eligible people to get screened. Here, too, is a cancer caregiver guide.
Get registered (for FREE) today for our Relay For Life of St. Mary’s County! Relayers celebrate the wins we have accomplished, own the impact their dollars are making and champion the future for everyone.
