Artist Lecture by Aurora Robson and Dedication of "Lover's Spat," March 26

Intended Audience

While oysters are busy cleaning water and preventing erosion, humans argue amongst themselves, causing all manner of destruction. “Lover’s Spat” playfully celebrates oysters and reflects on our relationship with them, each other and the planet. Inspired by the work that St. Mary’s College of Maryland has been doing with these humble bivalves, the artist made high-resolution 3D scans of Crassostrea virginica oyster shells, which were used to create a large-scale composition produced using post-industrial medical grade plastic.
