The dance team in this play are adolescent girls, but they should be played by adults of various ages. There's no need to resemble a teenager to be in the play, or to have any formal dance training - all people are encouraged to audition regardless of age or gender!
We are specifically seeking one Indian-American person to play the role of Connie, who is designated by the playwright as "the only Indian-American dancer on the team."
Rehearsals for the play will begin late September, and are usually in the evenings. We will work rehearsals around actors' schedules. The dates of production are November 10-14.
ALL STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF AND MEMBERS OF THE SURROUNDING COMMUNITY ARE INVITED TO AUDITION! Vaccinations are required of all auditioning, and masks will be worn by everyone throughout the process. We will be very diligent about safety, even sometimes more careful than college, local, state, and federal regulations require.
More information about the play can be found here: https://www.concordtheatricals.com/p/64509/dance-nation.
The script is on reserve under Amy Steiger's name in the library. PLEASE READ THE ENTIRE PLAY BEFORE AUDITIONING to make sure you're comfortable with the play's content before signing up. It's likely to make some folks uncomfortable because of cursing and explicit language and blood, etc. Professr Steiger is happy to answer any questions - alsteiger@smcm.edu.
