This year's Museum Studies public event is a roundtable that gathers together speakers who will address different ways that museum staff work together to support each other and their communities. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic and justice movement for Black lives have revealed some of the fault lines between museums' public missions, and the labor conditions that museum workers experience. Speakers will touch on museum staff unions, mutual aid campaigns for furloughed workers, and BIPOC leadership in inclusion and diversity work in museums. The event will explore how museum workers work within and beyond the museum institution for economic, social and racial justice in their work place and society.

This will be a virtual event.
