COMMUNITY SAND MANDALA project in conjunction with the Mandala Sand Painting by the Tibetan Buddhist Monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery

The Community Sand Mandala is a project designed by Professor Patterson’s class, Art 205: Introduction to Visual Thinking: How To See.  Each student created a mandala design. The design by Jasper Lopez was chosen to create the Community Sand Mandala. All the preliminary drawings will be on display near the community mandala.  

Come join in the fun to help create the community sand mandala alongside the Mandala Sand Painting by the Tibetan Buddhist Monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery. Try your hand at using the traditional metal funnel called a chak-pur while running a metal rod on its grated surface. The vibration causes the sands to flow like liquid onto the pre-drawn design.
