The Neuroscience program welcomes Dr. John Casachahua, a research psychologist in Navy Medical Research Center's Neurotrauma Department, who present "Research psychology: The career path and projects" as part of 2018-2019 series.
This talk will cover the career path of a Navy Research Psychologist, will introduce the projects that Dr. Casachahua has been involved with, and describe his new research focus as a Navy research psychologist. Dr. Casachahua earned his Ph.D in Psychology and Neuroscience from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He has previously studied the connection between the immune and nervous systems in addictive behaviors particularly related to ethanol consumption. His research has identified a role for interleukin-1β expression, specific interleukin receptors in the amygdala, and their connection to binge-like ethanol consumption.
