Biography
A native Annapolitan, cellist Suzanne Orban has been performing in the Washington DC/Baltimore area for many years. Suzanne attended Northwestern University, where she studied with Alan Harris and obtained her Bachelors Degree in Music. Ms. Orban returned to Maryland and began studies with Evelyn Elsing, David Soyer and the members of the Gueneri Quartet at the University of Maryland. Ms. Orban received her Masters Degree in Performance from the University of Maryland. In 1986, Suzanne joined the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, and served as Principal Cellist until 1996. Other key positions have been with the Baltimore Opera Company, the Mid-Atlantic Chamber Orchestra, and the Annapolis Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Orban has been a guest musician with the National Symphony, and the Washington National Opera. Suzanne has also participated in the Blossom Music Festival, the Mozart Festival and the National Orchestral Institute. She has also been awarded a Solo Performance Grant from the Maryland State Council for the Arts. Currently, Suzanne is the Principal Cellist of the Virginia Chamber Orchestra and a member of the exciting Opus Tango Ensemble, and serves as Cello Professor at St. Mary's College of Maryland.
