Join us on April 29 in recognition of Denim Day, a global day of action and awareness in support of survivors of sexual violence. We invite all members of our campus community to wear jeans or any denim clothing of your choice as a visible way to stand in solidarity, challenge harmful myths, and show your support for survivors. Whether it’s a favorite pair of jeans, a denim jacket, or any other denim item, your participation helps spark important conversations and reinforces a shared commitment to respect and accountability.
From 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, the Title IX Office will be tabling at the Campus Center Patio to show our support for survivors and connect with the campus community. Stop by to grab some Denim Day swag, stickers, snacks, and iron-on or sew-on patches to customize your denim and show your solidarity. We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to come by!
Denim Day serves as a reminder that what someone wears is never an excuse for sexual violence. By participating, you are helping to create a campus culture that prioritizes consent, support, and safety for all.
As Patricia Giggins, founder of Denim Day, reminds us:
“When millions of us participate in Denim Day—wearing denim, jeans, jackets, and hats as symbols of protest and solidarity—we make visible a powerful truth: survivors are not alone, sexual violence will not be tolerated, and together we can change the future. Thank you for being part of this movement and for helping build a world free from violence.” https://denimday.org/
