Oysters and Oyster Restoration in Southern Maryland

Oysters are not just a tasty treat - they're a keystone species that filter water, stabilize shorelines, and make habitat for other aquatic critters! That's why local nonprofits have been working to restore the oyster population in our local waterways. Hear about the community-led efforts to revive our local oyster populations and learn about the countless benefits of a healthy oyster reef with the St. Mary's River Watershed Association and the St. Mary's College of Maryland's Coastal Community Resilience Course.
