M. Talha Salam, assistant professor of business, co-authored a case study on a startup company aimed at bringing generative AI tools to classrooms.

The study, “Flint K12: Revving Up EdTech with Generative AI “was recently published by Ivey Publishing and follows the AI-based education technology (edtech) start-up Flint Inc. at a time when it faced a unique challenge of heightened interest for a product that was still under development.

The case study provides undergraduate and graduate courses with concrete examples of how to identify and describe the forces and actors shaping the edTech industry.

Writing this case was a valuable learning experience in GenAI, EdTech, and marketing for startups,” said Salam. “I am excited that this case is now available for teaching and discussion, and I hope it will serve as a useful resource for those interested in the intersection of innovation, education and marketing.”

Salam has 20 years of combined experience in academia and industry. An active faculty member at St. Mary’s College of Maryland since 2010, he has taught a wide range of marketing, management, digital marketing and marketing analytics courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Ivey Publishing, part of Western University’s Ivey Business School, is one of the world’s leading case publishers and the second largest producer of management cases globally.
