Established in 1980, the Maryland General Assembly’s Legislative Intern Program offers college and university students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the heart of state government.
Upon acceptance, interns begin their prestigious placement in the Maryland State House—the oldest state capitol in continuous legislative use in the nation. Over the course of the 90-day legislative session, students will:
✅ Work directly with legislative offices
✅ Gain insight into the daily operations of state government
✅ Witness history in the making
✅ Deepen their understanding of Maryland’s democratic process
