A group of people wearing white shirts joyfully celebrate by throwing colorful powder into the air. The vibrant colors contrast with the brick building and trees in the background. Smiles and laughter are seen as they enjoy the festive atmosphere.

The Asian & Pacific-Islander American Club (APAC) and the SMCM Asian Studies Program present SMCM Celebration 2025.   Also known as the Festival of Colors, Holi is a celebration of spring in India / South Asia that involves food, dancing, and the playful use of colored powder to show love and appreciation. Our students will be introducing the campus community to the history and customs of Holi as we indeed celebrate with music, samosas, tea, dancing and a color throw! We will also be learning from our colleagues about Naw Ruz, a celebration of spring that originated in Persia (Iran) :)

The SMCM Holi Celebration will be held at the Campus Center Patio from 4:30 - 6 p.m. on Friday, March 21.

Special thanks to Prof. Nayantara Kurpad (Ross Fellow in Psychology), Prof. Parisa Rinaldi (Ross Fellow in Environmental Studies), the Division of Inclusion, Diversity, Access and Accountability (IDEAA), the Office of Multicultural Programming, and the Student Government Association for their generous support.

PRO TIP: If you plan to participate in the powdered color throw, you should wear old clothing and bring a change of clothes, even though the color is washable.
