The Unity Ball is an annual event hosted by the Multicultural Programs Office and the Unity Ball Planning Committee, held in late spring. This celebration is open to the entire campus community and serves as an exciting way to bring ballroom culture to St. Mary’s College of Maryland.

Ballroom culture, a rich and dynamic subculture rooted in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities, emerged as a space of empowerment, creativity, and self-expression. It is celebrated through competitive "balls," where participants walk in various categories to showcase their style, talent, and confidence. These events often center around “houses” — chosen families or teams that foster unity and mentorship.

At the Unity Ball, different student clubs and organizations represent their own "houses," competing for a cash stipend and campus-wide glory!

We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join the planning committee. Members should be able to commit to weekly meetings and approximately 0–2 hours of work per week. If you have a passion for event planning and creativity, this is the perfect opportunity for you! While prior experience or knowledge of ballroom culture isn’t required, we encourage you to explore and research it as part of your commitment to the committee.

Sign up today and help us make this year's Unity Ball an unforgettable experience for everyone!
