Please join the psychology department in enthusiastically welcoming Dr. Jessica Leffers to St. Mary’s College of Maryland!
Assistant Professor of Psychology Dr. Jessica Leffers earned her PhD (2021) in experimental psychology from Northeastern University where she researched racial and religious categorizations from a cognitive-developmental perspective. Her current work explores the development of racial essentialism in diverse samples to uncover the ways in which prejudiced attitudes form, and the conditions under which they may fade. While at Northeastern, Jessica won the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Teaching and, following graduation, served as assistant professor of psychology at Eckerd College. We are so thrilled that Jessica is bringing her impressive research and teaching skills to St. Mary’s.
