Officer Katie Ringdahl Selected as Public Safety Officer of the Year

The Office of Public Safety is pleased to announce that Public Safety Officer Katie Ringdahl has been selected as our Officer of the Year for 2024.

Officer Ringdahl started her career with the Office of Public Safety in 2021. Officer Ringdahl possesses a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland Global Campus and an Associate of Arts in Social Sciences from the College of Southern Maryland. Officer Ringdahl is a Certified Instructor for RAD Self Defense and ALERRT Civilian Response to an Active Shooter.

Officer Ringdahl received more than half of all nominations from the campus community. Among the reasons for their nominations, the campus community said the following:

“Officer Ringdahl has shown a constant level of dedication to not only the college but also the students.”

“She actively communicates with the faculty and students, building a rapport with them where trust is mutual.”

“Katie's ever-willingness to stop and help, coupled with her calm presence, makes her an ideal recipient of this award.”

Officer Ringdahl will be recognized here on campus as well as other law enforcement officers at the annual St. Mary’s County Law Enforcement Appreciation Day ceremony that will be held on May 7th, 2024. When you see Officer Ringdahl on campus, please join us in extending your congratulations to her.
