St. Mary’s College of Maryland (SMCM) has partnered with the National Association of Resource Conservation & Development Councils (NARCDC) to create and provide 12 summer internship opportunities across the United States exclusively to SMCM students.

As one of the five key partners in the National Conservation Partnership (NCP), the NARCDC is integral to the creation and implementation of resource conservation programs across the country that are critical for the sustainability of our natural resources.

The NCP recognizes that putting conservation on the ground is a substantial undertaking that would be impossible without a strong network of partners, collaborators and sponsors. The NARCDC and conservation districts work with partners as a regular part of everyday business at the local, state and national levels. The NCP’s key partners and affiliates represent a diversity of groups and individuals who have an unparalleled passion for conservation and expertise in addressing natural resource concerns.

"The collaboration between SMCM and the NARCDC to offer 12 summer internship positions exclusively to SMCM students is a remarkable opportunity for all of those involved," said Cindy Greb, executive director of the Center for Career & Professional Development at SMCM.

This partnership signifies a commitment to providing students with practical, hands-on experiences in the field of natural resource conservation and development, while also fostering relationships between academia and industry. "By offering these internships exclusively to our students, it demonstrates a recognition of the quality of education and caliber of students at SMCM," added Greb.

These internships will offer diverse experiences across the United States, allowing students to explore various aspects of natural resource conservation and development in different regions. They also provide an excellent opportunity for SMCM students to network with professionals in the field and gain valuable insights into potential career paths.

"This partnership underscores the importance of experiential learning and industry connections in preparing students for future success in their chosen fields," explained Greb. "It's an exciting opportunity for SMCM students to apply their skills and knowledge in real-world settings while making meaningful contributions to the field of natural resource conservation and development."

Partnering with a national organization like NARCDC provides students with the chance to explore various fields related to natural resource conservation and development while also gaining hands-on experience in their chosen field. Additionally, the exclusivity of these internships to SMCM students can provide them with a competitive edge in the job market and networking opportunities within the conservation and development sector.
