Kyrsten Sinema

Senator Sinema was born in Tucson, Arizona. Growing up, she lived in poverty with her siblings, which became a motivating force for her politics. After doing a stint as a member of the Green Party, Sinema became a member of the Democratic Party. She decided to run for local office in Arizona’s House of Representatives. While serving in the chamber, she came out as bisexual in an off-the-cuff comment to a reporter when a colleague made a bad comment about LGBT individuals. After many years of fighting for advancements in education, modernizing how we care for kids, and expanding health care, she ran for Senate. Sinema is elected the first bisexual Senator in United States History.
