Autism Acceptance Month flyer

Let’s celebrate National Autism Acceptance Month by looking at autism (and neurodiversity) and learning more about the differences that make our campus more diverse and unique. (Think The St. Mary’s Way) Neurodiversity is a concept that’s been around for a while. In a nutshell, it means that brain differences are just that: differences. So conditions like ADHD and autism aren’t “abnormal.” They’re simply variations of the human brain. Autism is a complex, lifelong developmental difference that can impact a person’s social skills, communication, relationships, and self-regulation. It is defined by a certain set of behaviors and is a “spectrum condition” that affects people differently and to varying degrees.
