The Harlem Hellfighters

The Harlem Hellfighters were an African American infantry unity during WWI. Their unit was the 369th Infantry Regiment. The Hellfighters spent more time in combat than any other American unit. They earned the prestigious award of Croix de Guerre from the French army who they served under for six months. Despite their courage and dedication to fight for their country, they returned to racism and segregation.
