SUMMER TRANSITION PLANS
Constitution
- The Executive Board intends on reviewing the Constitution and also brainstorming on how the Constitution could be improved. Some members will meet with other student governments from different colleges to share past experiences and also give advice. The SGA Executive Board Members will also all participate in a weekly “book” club, where they will familiarize themselves with the SGA Constitution and Bylaws.
Club Reform
- The Executive Board wants to streamline the processes that are involved in creating and maintaining a club. Some major issues will be alleviated through the new platform that the SGA bought this academic year called Campus Labs Engage, UMD also uses this platform.
Communication
- The SGA, however, intends on crafting a website which will be linked to the official SMCM institution’s website, so that students, faculty, administration, potential applicants, visitors, friends, and family can be aware of the goals and accomplishments of the SMCM SGA. Additionally, this website will include SGA members and what constituencies they represent, along with their role as a SMCM public servant.
- Until the website is up and running, the Executive Board would like to provide their contact information to the student body through this meeting update, so here is the list of the SGA Executive Board members.
- Cachi Sanchez Santos - President
- Joshua Ajanaku - Vice-President
- Kadiane Sy-Savane - Treasurer
- Fatima Bouzid - Student Trustee
- Jannah Mawuli - Parliamentarian
- Dina Tuggle - Club Coordinator
- Erika Berry - Secretary

- Creating individual training workshops for executive board members, which will be led by the President, Vice-President, and a former SGA representative that holds the new member’s positions.
- Utilizing SGA funds to create more scholarships based on financial need.
- Emphasizing the cultural aspect of world carnival by having SMCM affinity groups lead their own tables
- Members for the community student task force have been chosen, and more updates regarding that will be soon to come.
- Drafting a Code of Conduct that will lay out rules, proper behaviours, and responsibilities for members within the SGA.
