Theatre students Jackie Miller, Jay Valdesere, Kelsie Schlichting and Hannah Marron from the Performing Arts department presented at the American College Theatre Festival (ACTF) Region 2 conference in January.  Miller presented their stage manager production book for String, winning the "student choice" award for stage manager presentations; and Marron presented their costume designs for Orpheus in Movement. All four students took workshops and competed in the tech Olympics, taking first place in the competition.

Teams of seven students competed in various timed "events" for the tech Olympics. With just four students, SMCM teamed up with three students from SUNY Brockport to form their competition team. Events included quick costume changes, taping out a stage ground plan, setting up a sound system, setting up theatrical lighting and other stage management and production skills. The joint SMCM-SUNY Brockport team captured first overall, with individual members capturing first in several events as well.
