
Professor of Psychology Aileen Bailey and Associate Professor of Psychology James Mantell together with coauthors Sadie Grzymalski '26, Zachary Payne '26, Amelia Rhonehouse '26 and Jayden Washington '25 recently had their article "Swipe right on data: It's the hottest skill you can learn" featured on the American Psychological Association’s Psychology Student Network. Mantell and Bailey, are principal investigators on a 2023–2026 National Science Foundation grant, "Developing Modernized Data Science Instruction in Psychology Curricula" (NSF IUSE 2235645), for which Grzymalski, Payne, Rhonehouse, and Washington served as research assistants. The article discusses how data science connects to answering psychological research questions and its application to both psychology students' future educational and diverse career opportunities. Resources to build upon foundational data science skills are also suggested.
