Three St. Mary's College of Maryland mathematics students presented at the National Association of Mathematicians Undergraduate MathFest held September 23-25 at Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland. Kelsi Anderson '25, Kimani Daley '24 and Ryan Knight '25 presented work they did this summer as part of the Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program at SMCM. They were joined by REU teammates Sophia Fogle (Centre College) and Tiffani Clark (Univ. of Louisiana at Lafayette). Kimani Daley and her group, who worked with Visiting Assistant Professor Seth Cowall, won most outstanding oral presentation for their presentation on modeling oyster populations.

The annual NAM Undergraduate MathFest was started in 1991 in an effort to encourage students to pursue advanced degrees in mathematics and mathematics education. MathFest is geared for undergraduates from Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), although all are welcome to attend.
